Heres a problem nobody talks about enough. Not every event needs some massive 500-person banquet hall. And not every event works crammed into a tiny restaurant corner. Theres this middle range — like 50 to 100 guests — where its actually surprisingly hard to find a good venue. Everything is either way too big (and you're paying for empty space that makes your party feel sad) or way too small (and everyone's uncomfortable and ready to leave after an hour). Why is there no in-between?? Its frustrating.
Events by Forty is that in-between. Our modern Italian resto-lounge in Vaughan is basically designed for this exact guest count range. 50 people? The space feels full, energetic, alive. 100 people? Still comfortable, no one's squeezed, everything flows. Getting that balance right isn't easy — Ive seen plenty of venues that claim to work for "all sizes" but they really dont. Our layout and design just actually works for this range.
Why 50–100 Is Actually the Best Range
Think about it. The majority of real celebrations, the ones which really count, lie within this range. Birthday celebrations, anniversaries, engagement celebrations, corporate dinners, religious celebrations, family get-togethers. In making up your real guest list, when you sit down and count, it comes down to 50 to 100 people. Maybe 60. Maybe 85. But its usually in that window.
And theres something about this size that just feels right. Enough people for real energy — that buzz in the room where you can feel people having a good time. Music sounds right. Conversations overlap in that nice way. But its also small enough that you actually know everyone there. You can make eye contact across the room.
Acoustics work better too. At huge venues, everything echoes and people end up shouting at each other. Here, you can actually hear the person next to you. The flow makes sense — people can move around naturally without traffic jams at the bar or the food station. Everything is proportional.

One thing that people like is that you are not paying money to rent a space that is not utilized. In larger establishments with 400 occupancy, your 75 guest event is confined in one section of a huge room with empty spaces everywhere. It transforms the event looking smaller and less lively than it is. In this case, every inch of the space is used. Your 75-person party actually feels like a 75-person party.
Also honestly? Medium-sized events just run smoother. The kitchen isn't overwhelmed trying to feed 300 people. The bar isn't backed up with a 40-minute wait for drinks. Service is attentive because the ratios work. Everything hits the right timing.
